GTM on YaleSites

Overview

Google Tag Manager (GTM) is now integrated into the YaleSites platform. This tool can help improve your site’s visibility in Google search results and provides access to advanced tracking features. Google Tag Manager is a self-service tool and site administrators will need to manage GTM setup and configuration independently.

Yale’s Preferred Analytics Tool

Siteimprove remains fully supported and is Yale’s recommended solution for:

  • Comprehensive website analytics and user behavior insights
  • Automated accessibility compliance monitoring

Using Both Platforms

You can use Siteimprove alongside Google Tag Manager for complete website analysis coverage.

Using Google Tag Manager

Getting Started

Step 1: Get Your GTM Container ID

  1. Create a free Google Tag Manager account at tagmanager.google.com
  2. Create a new container for your website
  3. Copy your Container ID (format: GTM-XXXXXXX)

Step 2: Configure the GTM in YaleSites

  1. Navigate to Settings > Google Tag Settings
  2. Add your Google Tag ID

Step 3: Manage Your Tag

  1. Once configured in YaleSites, manage all your tags, triggers, and variables directly in GTM. Sign into Google Tag Manager
