Community Spotlight: Campus Health

Thursday, March 7, 2024

Over the past five months, the YaleSites team has been excited to hear feedback from those who are re-building their existing sites on the new platform and impressed with all they have achieved. These seasoned builders use the platform’s benefits to create an exceptional visitor experience.

However, a great advantage of the new platform is that it also enables those without much web design experience to create beautiful websites.

Campus Health used the YaleSites Blocks to create easy-to-navigate pathways to content.

According to Lisa Kimmel, Director of Wellness and Education, YaleSites helped showcase the benefits of Campus Health. This new program aims to help ensure that Yale is a healthy place to live and work by promoting the well-being of students, faculty and visitors through health monitoring, messaging and preventive services. Although Lisa has limited website development experience, she created a content-rich, functional website using the training and resources available through YaleSites.

“I have taken every YaleSites community training, bookmarked the resource library, and red-flagged all Release Notes emails. The Building with Blocks class helped me remove the training wheels and experiment with the templates. This is where the magic happened! The blocks are very intuitive to navigate. Not having a dedicated communication team, we rely heavily on YaleSites’ resources and support. I have submitted many tickets to troubleshoot and flooded the team with questions during office hours. I’ve felt extremely supported throughout the process and never feel vulnerable asking a “novice” question.”

Lisa added that it was fun to challenge herself to use YaleSites building elements to present information more clearly and engagingly. She has received high praise all around – even at home!

“I shared the site with my teenage son, who’s much more tech-savvy than me, and knew I had done a pretty good job when he said, “Wow, Mom, you made that!?”

Tips and tricks: Reusable Blocks

Speed up your workflow

Simplify content management and speed up your workflow with Reusable Blocks, a powerful new YaleSites feature.

Changes made to a Reusable Block are immediately reflected anywhere the Reusable Block appears, allowing you to create content once and reuse it across your YaleSite. This feature is ideal for standardizing elements like Custom Cards, Callouts, or custom Views.
