New Blocks: Stats Callout, Tile Cards and Reference Cards
Authors can now add engaging infographic-like data treatments to their YaleSite with the Stats Callout Block.
Feature content in a collection of easy-to-scan “cards” that combines headings, thumbnails, and blurbs. To maximize usability and design flexibility, the Tiles Card does not require authors to include a link.
Reference Cards offer a visually captivating display for highlighted Events, Posts, or Profiles. Content creators have the flexibility to curate and spotlight selected content, ensuring it receives the special attention it deserves.
Introducing Templates
Authors can now speed up the creation process by choosing from a selection of pre-designed page templates. Find a template that best matches your needs, drop in your content, and publish. We’ve also updated our documentation to explain how templates can be added and updated.
New Event Display Options
We are updating cards, lists, and teaser views to display date ranges to better support multi-day events. Site visitors will now be able to filter and browse event listings by month, date, or date range.
Improved Media
Site owners can look forward to Media Library enhancements to better support the management, storing, embedding, and sharing of media assets. We are improving image cropping and exploring adding AI solutions for alt text, document summaries and image suggestions.
Platform Improvements
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, the YaleSites platform will undergo security and module updates as well as new rounds of accessibility and VR testing.
We anticipate introducing platform refinements, such as authoring workflows and permissions, new templates, and support for React/SaaS application integrations for products like Qualtrics.
We’re creating new ways for users to filter lists of content, and automating the process of adding administrative labels to Blocks.
Improved Documentation
We’re expanding our documentation efforts to support contributors and site owners alike. We’ll address color palette logic, how to contribute and extend a theme, and explore the architectural reasons behind our shift from Paragraphs to Blocks.
Expanded Support for Publications, Research, and Referencing
Authors will be provided with a flexible way to manage and display bibliographic references, simplifying the process of organizing, displaying, and citing research and related materials. We’re also revisiting Profiles to better support the inclusion of publications and presentations.
Dashboard Discovery Begins
The YaleSites Team will kick off the discovery process for dashboards to identify, define, develop, and appropriately prioritize features and functionality.
