What We Built Together

Many of 2025’s updates came from working directly with Yale units like the Poorvu Center, It’s Your Yale, and the School of The Environment.

We focused on solving real problems teams encounter when building and managing sites which resulted in features like Content Collections (v2.0) that bring clearer navigation structure and the Resource Content Type (v2.9) that lets you manage files and videos in one place and display them consistently across your site. New flexible layouts and an improved block picker make daily work faster for site builders, all while maintaining Yale’s usability, accessibility, visual identity standards.

Platform Enhancement By The Numbers

  • 5 Major platform feature releases delivered throughout the year
  • 3 Yale units partnered directly on feature development
  • 2 New content sections with background color options
  • 1 New content type introduced to highlight files and videos

Performance, Security, and Stability You Don’t Have to Think About

A large part of YaleSites’ value is the work users never have to see.

With your help we were able to fix 25 reported bugs across 5 releases in 2025. Our internal testing team also caught and fixed 113 internal bugs, catching them before they became issues for site owners.

Accessibility improvements continued across heading structure, link contrast, and screen reader navigation, ensuring that sites remain usable by the widest possible audience. At the same time, the migration from Google Analytics to Google Tag Manager brought YaleSites into alignment with Drupal core standards and improved long-term maintainability.

YaleSites also stayed current with Drupal core updates all year. Combined with Pantheon’s globally distributed, SSL-secured infrastructure, this work ensures that sites remain reliable and protected without requiring action from individual departments.

YaleSites Beacon

In 2025, we also shared progress on YaleSites Beacon, an AI built directly on the YaleSites Drupal platform.

YaleSites Beacon reflects a broader vision: helping people navigate complex institutional information through intuitive, conversational experiences. By using YaleSites as its foundation, Beacon demonstrates how a shared platform can support innovation while maintaining consistency and governance.

This work points toward a future where information flows more freely across departments and systems, without adding burden to the teams maintaining content.

Community Engagement Across Yale

YaleSites continues to grow as a shared community, not just a shared platform.

  • 85

Community Spotlights

This year, several departments allowed their work to be shared as examples for the wider Yale community.

Highlights included:

We’re grateful to these teams and to every unit that participated in community spotlights. Their willingness to share their work helps others learn faster and build better.
