YaleSites v.2.10 - Enhanced Design Flexibility and Event Improvements

What’s changed?

This release focuses on expanding design flexibility and making improvements to features like the Event content type. Multiple bugs were fixed, as we strive to provide the YaleSites community with a reliable, user-friendly, and accessible platform. 

Padding Available for All Blocks

NEW: You can now add or remove spacing between all blocks on your site.

That’s right – padding is now available for every block. Or choose “No Padding” to remove all space between blocks. These are the four padding options to choose from:  

  • Padding on both top and bottom 
  • No Top padding 
  • No Bottom padding 
  • No Padding (removed both top and bottom padding)

Introducing a new Calendar Block

There’s a new block in town

The now separate Calendar View block is here! Users can now search, categorize, and filter events using tags as you would with a view block!  

The Event content type was upgraded for this release. Event times are now displayed in View results. Event pages split their events into two groups: “Upcoming” and “Passed” events. The “Past Event” label has been updated, and font size has been reduced to create a better visual hierarchy. Site visitors will be able to clearly identify if an event is passed or coming up.

Bulk Profile Importer

Introducing the bulk profile importer. Add multiple profiles to your site at once by uploading a CSV/Excel spreadsheet with profile information. For more information about using the bulk profile importer, visit the Profile Import Template Resource

Button Block Enhancements

The following four button style options are now available when using two buttons at one time. 

  • Filled, Outline
  • Both Filled
  • Both Outline
  • Outline, Filled 

You can also now use three horizontal alignment options (Left, Center, and Right).

Content Creation Enhancements  

New and Improved Blocks    

  • Grand Hero Updates: 
    • Introducing Mini! The third and smallest design option for a shorter banner  
  • Embed Block:  
    • Another Embed code for MS Forms is now supported  
  • Custom Cards: 
    • The gray outline stays around the custom card regardless of image used and color of background  

Clearer Distinction between different Environments in YaleSites  

  • Updated language in Drupal banner to clearly state what the Development and Live environments are intended for 
  • Platform version number now appears in the banner

Bug Fixes

We’ve gotten rid of plenty of bugs, but don’t worry - we only squashed the code kind. No bugs were harmed in the making of this release.  

  • Multi-day events now properly display the event date(s) in View results 
  • Previously, multi-day events resulted in a View block repeating the first date for every iteration of that event 
  • Reference card image was blurry, fixed and now displays clearly  
  • Removed Siteimprove code from pages that aren’t user facing  
  • Fixed section padding on 50/50 sections with the first item on the left-side section 
  • Fixed incorrect text shadow styling on image caption links in multi-column sections- text shadow now matches the section background color 
  • Fixed HTML code block syntax highlighting in text editors 
  • Fixed an issue with Content collections navigation dropdown where the last item dropdown displays off-screen 
  • All items on sidebar are visible when selecting “Move” in Layout Builder  
  • Removed extra top padding from Spotlight Blocks in Banner Regions  
  • Added padding to the left side of the accordion block when used in a 50/50 section 
  • Fixed issue with dragging and dropping video blocks in columns in sections
